About Local 547

Who we are

Operating Engineers Local 547 is a Union rich in history - with roots reaching as far back as a century. As a statewide Local, we represent working men and women across Michigan in both the public and private sectors, fighting for fair wages, good benefits and pensions.

Representing a diverse membership

Our members reflect today's diverse workforce - many work in the traditional craft of stationary engineering, however, we also have members in school districts, hospitals, hotels, courthouses, auto parts shops, and even a guitar string factory.

What we do

Local 547 is proud to be one of the most innovative Local Unions in our state offering “Cradle to Grave” service, including education, training, apprenticeships, a full range of benefits, pensions, 401k, collective bargaining, stewards training, political action and lobbying.

Our history shows that our union has been willing and able to create a better way of life for our members and our society in general. We plan to keep that vision alive and growing.
